What We Do
The Desert Refuge for Peace Officers is a place of hospitality, healing and solitude for law enforcement personnel, as well as active and retired military personnel, and their families. The Refuge welcomes all races, cultures, and faiths in an ecumenical and inter-faith spirit, to foster personal and spiritual awareness rooted in the Divine love for all.
The DRPO, built on five acres of desert solitude near Joshua Tree, California, offers peace officers and their families a place to gather strength and face the crisis of life and job. Guests are encouraged to take advantage of our many services, including:
12-Step Discussions
Workshops / Orientation for New Law Enforcement Families
Days of Recollection
Retreats
Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD)
Strategic Planning Meetings
Suicide Prevention
Spiritual Guidance
The DRPO is a nonprofit organization; all charitable donations go toward providing food and housing for guests, and the building of a non-denominational chapel. Please see the Upcoming Events page for more information.

"Joy is seeing someone who was struggling, leave the DRPO with peace and a resolution. . . . It just doesn't get any better than that." -Fr. Mike
